Artist Statement

Based in Phoenixville, PA, Elizabeth Beecher has been embracing bright, joyful colors and animals for the past several years. Inspired by the animals in her life as well as the animals in others’ lives, she is focused on bringing them to life in paint and mixed media through bold and colorful paintings.

In the early 1980’s Beth attended Temple University’s Tyler School of Art in Elkins Park. She began as a printmaking major and ended as a painter. Back then her art was large, dark, mostly focused on the masks that people wear to hide themselves. Early in her career she showed in several galleries in Center City, Philadelphia. However, she took a 30-year break to enjoy and endure marriage and raise four thoroughly amazing children. After the children were grown, she jumped back in to creating art but found that her life had become full of animals, fun and humor. Her paintings now reflect this outlook on life.

She sees everything with unique personalities – and she aims to bring those personalities into her work. Although, painting is her first love, her most recent work is mixed media – which helps her create even more personalities through her art. She brings real objects and photos into the painted scene to change the feeling of the environment – to make something plain become whimsical and fun.
